Given the fact that Sarah Whitten is a classically trained vocalist, I have to admit that I was surprised that she didn’t hate having muddy feet during her session. She didn’t freak out when I asked her to stand barefoot on a dirt road. She didn’t freak out when I started photographing those muddy feet, either. As a mother of two kids, she could have easily been frazzled, but instead we spent a peaceful evening in nature amongst old trees and new blooms.
Sarah found her calling in yoga, and now she specializes in helping classical singers achieve freedom of expression through the physical and mental openness that yoga brings (learn more about her work at The Mindful Singer). Just spending an hour with her made me feel more peaceful, and I can only imagine the effect she has on her students!
