I don’t remember how I came across the article, but I first read about Courtney in a beautiful piece about her life as a working mom in SA Woman. We met each other briefly when I was photographing headshots at Rackspace, and I was totally in awe of how she juggled everything so beautifully. I was still a full-time student trying to run my photography business, and I felt like I could really relate to her fast-paced life. In the article, she says, “I am one of those people who need to go-go nonstop, with many irons in the fire. That keeps me moving and charged.” YES, 100%!
I love that Courtney has had such a successful career but still remains totally devoted to her two boys, who have energy for miles and huge, curious hearts. Her love for them is quite apparent, but I admire the way she just lets them be boys. I followed the two brothers around with my camera as they ran, jumped, and climbed on things. And I even followed them along to their breakfast date with mom, their hard-earned prize at the end of the session. The little guy begged, “Mom, mom! Can I please have five blueberry muffins after pictures?!” And instead of walking to the bakery, we RAN. This family’s life is pretty fabulous, and you can see how much Courtney loves it. It’s in the way she hugs her boys tight and then lets them run, smiling the whole time.
