There have been a lot of moments in my photography career that have made me get all teary-eyed. Let’s just say that I tend to pack extra mascara on the days that I show my clients their image slideshows. 😉 But this session goes down as one of my all-time “happy tears” moments.
Four years ago, I had a blast photographing Anna and Gabe’s wedding photos in San Antonio. Since their careers took them to a different state and I had moved to the East Coast, we lost touch. And then I just about fell out of my seat when I received an email from Anna a few months ago, telling me that she and Gabe now had a (not-so-)baby boy and would be visiting Boston on a family vacation.
On the day of their session when I saw them enter the gate of the Arnold Arboretum, I just couldn’t believe that my wedding clients had (seemingly) transformed instantly into parents. We picked up right where we left off…but this time, with a lot more tickling and silly games!
I’m so happy to have met their little dude. This kid is like the Energizer Bunny! He had been awake since 3 a.m. for their flight to Boston, yet he was all smiles. He is a toddler miracle. 😉 When he started to fade on us, we would just play another game and he would come right back. (His top smile maker? The song “Never Smile at a Crocodile” from Peter Pan). Even after the session was “over,” he was still content to explore the arboretum with us for another hour. He definitely has the adventurous heart of his parents!
Anna and Gabe, thank you from the bottom of my heart for inviting me to take your first official photos as a family of three! I feel so lucky to call you my clients and my friends.
