Adding a second baby to the family is such a special occasion, and I felt so lucky to photograph the arrival of this beautiful baby girl. She’s just seven days new in this session, but her parents and big brother are already completely smitten!

Before they even had a chance to change into the outfits they planned for the session, I found dad snuggled up with his two love bugs. I love these next few photos, right down to the burp cloth and baby girl’s rainbow onesie! These are real life…cuddles and all!

Big brother was a total ham and sometimes stole the show…but that was totally OK with me! 😉 I loved seeing his colorful personality on display! We played all kinds of games, including jumping on the bed (saved for this special occasion) and watching the rabbit I hid in my camera (not really, but toddler imaginations are an incredible thing!)

To get the big brother smiling in this picture, I picked him up and flew him into his dad’s lap (like an airplane!) When I say that family sessions are a workout, that’s the kind of stuff I’m talking about! It’s always so much fun. 🙂

Are you kidding me with this sweet snuggle?!?!

Belly flops on the bed!!

After a quick feed, it was time for baby girl’s solo pictures!  She gave us so many of those fleeting, magical newborn smiles. They happen in a split second, so I always snap as fast as I can when I see a smile start to make an appearance! 🙂

Tiny fingers and tiny toes, all wrapped up into one little bundle. Although I bring my own swaddles, wraps, and headbands to every newborn session, this particular swaddle set was mama’s awesome find from Milkmaid Goods! The stretchy spandex/rayon blend worked really well for keeping her snuggled up.

When I photograph parents with their new baby, I try to create the images that I would want to see of my own parents when I was born: timeless and full of love.

Sleeping peacefully in her mama’s arms! These are my favorite kind of newborn photos, because they are true to life – and baby is right where she is meant to be!

She was still so asleep by the end of the session that I couldn’t resist snapping one more solo image of her! I found this gorgeous little spot downstairs, and I love that we were able to include a map of Boston to showcase the city where she was born. Dad helped me keep her safe by having his hand just out of the frame, ready to jump in if she startled. I love creating unique lifestyle images for my clients, but safety is always most important to me!
