My yoga mat, because this is the week I started taking care of my body again.
I love this week’s theme because the first week of the year always leaves me feeling grateful. When the dust from the crazy holiday season settles, in its place is a feeling of PEACE. Everyone’s holiday photos have been taken and the temperature keeps dropping, which means cozy nights inside and time to reflect on what I want to improve in the coming year. I don’t usually bother to set a resolution on January 1st, but this year happened to be the first day I had time to make it to the gym since I completed my 100 miles of running this past summer. On January 1st I only ran 1/4 of the miles, but it was enough to kick my butt into gear. It inspired me to re-join my yoga studio, and it has felt SO good to get oxygen into my lungs this week. Sitting at a computer for hours a day can destroy your body (as I painfully realized when I developed a pinched nerve a couple of months ago) but it feels to good to be on the path to recovery and prevention.
Project 52 was started by a lovely group of photographers from NAPCP, of which I am a proud member. Our goal for 2015 is to take weekly photographs that warm our hearts and challenge us at the same time, based on a theme that the group has decided. It’s an encouraging and inspiring environment for us to hone our craft and just enjoy photography for what it is: an art that we all LOVE.
