I had the honor of photographing their middle son’s newborn portraits a few years ago, and it was such a joy to be invited into their home again to welcome their third baby!
We did these photos when baby was so fresh that he didn’t even have a name yet – still full of milk dreams and sleepy snuggles!
I loved getting a peek into their life with three boys in the mix…adventurous and oh-so-beautiful!
It’s always fun to include fur siblings whenever possible! This particular buddy was included in their last newborn session, so we knew we had to make it happen again. If you’re hoping to include your dog in newborn photos, here are a couple of tips:
1) Keep an adult within a few inches of the baby at all times for safety. In this case we had a hand right by baby’s head in case the dog decided to move, and I just removed it in Photoshop later. Your baby’s safety is always my top priority!
2) Take the dog out for a nice long walk earlier that morning to help them feel more calm.
Loved watching these big brothers love on their new baby!
Sigh…these simple portraits of mama & baby by the window are EVERYTHING!!! So timeless!
Like I said…beautiful chaos 😉
It’s so easy to forget how tiny your newborn used to be, so I always love to grab a couple of shots from far away to show proportion. They grow SO fast!
His biggest brother volunteered to tuck him into bed to help him calm down, and it was the sweetest moment.
Counting toes!
Maybe my favorite crib sheet design EVER. Looks like he’s sailing away in his dreams!
While mama was feeding baby, I spent some time in the older boys’ room. I asked one of them to pick a favorite toy for me to photograph and he showed me this cool globe. They also had fun jumping off of the bunk bed with their wings!
Another classic “life with boys” shot…mama’s face cracks me up!!!
So new, yet already stretching out and starting to take up his space in the world! Love those little fingers!
Although the focus was on baby during the session, it was really special to take a quick break for one-on-one time with mom. I hope he cherishes these when he’s older!
That little pinky grab!!! 🙂
