Happy Saturday! After a long day of spring cleaning, E and I are about to kick back and enjoy a movie night…but I couldn’t forget Day 11 of the 30-day blogging challenge! Almost halfway there!
Tonight, I’m excited to share this super colorful Fenway Park photo session. You may recognize these four as the cover family for the new session guide!
We had already set a different game plan for their session, but after reading in their pre-session questionnaire that their son was obsessed with baseball, I just knew I had to find a way to work Fenway Park into the afternoon. We ended up combining Fenway with the Back Bay Fens (right around the corner) so that we could capture the funky neighborhood feel AND the more classic family photos with autumn leaves.
This mama was so on point with their outfit choices that I just have to brag on her a little bit! She texted me images of clothing that she was considering so that I could help her put things together (a service that I love to offer to my clients), but she already had such an awesome color palette that we didn’t need to change a thing! The bright colors made for really cheerful images. 🙂
Kevin and Brittany, THANK YOU for trusting my change of plans, for raising bright, curious kiddos, and for always smiling. Your family is just plain fun to be around!

1) Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Kevin is from here, I am from CA. We met while both of us were living in southern CA, got married, had two kids (Jackson 2 1/2, Paige 14 months), and moved back to Boston almost a year ago. We love it here.
2) How did you decide that this was the right time to hire a professional photographer?
We have never had professional pictures taken and I have wanted to do it so badly since Jack was born. Kevin surprised me and booked the shoot for my birthday!
3) Where was your session held and why?
Our session was at Fenway and The Fens. We chose the Fens based on some of the photos we saw on your website and you suggested some photos at Fenway since our little boy is obsessed with baseball.
4) What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare?
Consult your session guide!
5) Was there anything you were nervous or worried about before hiring a photographer? How did you feel afterward?
I was worried my kids would be awful and it would be impossible to get a shot with everyone looking at the camera. Also, I was nervous about looking so sweaty since there was a heatwave that week! Afterward I felt confident that there had to be some good ones, considering your endless energy and patience with the kids and you told me that you had ways of fixing the glistening foreheads. 🙂
6) Any funny stories or interesting happenings during your session?
I thought it was hilarious when you handed Jackson your own cell phone for him to play with. (Thank you!)
7) Of all the photos we took, which is your #1 favorite and why?
The picture of Jack in front of the orange wall is my favorite. It captured him perfectly! His sweaty hair, his bright eyes, his rosy cheeks, and the perfect lighting. It makes me smile EVERY time I look at it.
8) Any advice to other families before their photo session?
I would tell them not to be afraid to consult with you beforehand about clothing, photo ideas, etc. You always made yourself available to help!
9) What made you choose Kate L Photography?
Kevin found your website through an article about the best family photographers in Boston. He said that your photos were the most fun and the brightest (which he knew I would love). He contacted a couple but said that you seemed the most fun to work with.
10) How have you used the images from your session, or what are you planning to do with them in the future?
We have a few of them up around our house. And gave them to grandparents/great grandparents for Christmas :)… Also, I look through them often just for fun because I love them.
