Before we met, Lucy and I knew of each other through the music world…but as if that weren’t enough of a coincidence, it turns out that a great friend of hers actually worked in the office right next door to mine! We all became friends through Lucy and Kevin’s engagement photos…love it!!

I had the best time hanging out with these two for an evening! We’re all huge Netflix fans, and I loved comparing notes from the shows we had seen. Because of them, The Americans made it onto my list…any other fans out there?

How did you meet each other?

Kevin and I met at a party for admitted Vanderbilt University students from the Raleigh-Durham, NC area. We were the only two music students at the party (I play violin and Kevin plays trumpet). We hit it off right away, started dating our freshman year, and never looked back! We moved to New England four years ago, and have lived in Cambridge for two years. We love it here!

Tell us your proposal story!

I started graduate school at Columbia University this fall, which has been a big change for both Kevin and I! The night before I left for NYC, Kevin wanted to take me on a date. He planned a picnic for us at the Crane Estate in Ipswich – such a beautiful place! As we enjoyed champagne and a gorgeous summer sunset, Kevin pulled out a ring box, got down on one knee, and proposed! I was so happy to accept and 100% surprised, which is hard to do if you know me and how nosy I am (good work, Kev!). It was a perfect proposal and one of our happiest memories.
