Thanks for visiting! For those of you who are new to the site, my name is Kate and I'm a lifestyle portrait photographer. I take all kinds of portraits, including but not limited to pictures of musicians, high school seniors, families, children, and couples. I split my time between between my native San Antonio, TX, and Rochester, NY, where I'm a full-time student.
This blog is the best place to stay updated on my work. Here, you'll find sneak peaks of all my recent sessions, updates on session availability, and a little about the girl behind the camera :) To view my portfolio and information about booking a session, please visit my main website, www.kateLphotography.com.
I hope you enjoy looking around! Leave me a comment and let me know you stopped by--I always love hearing from visitors.
A couple of headshots from minis this week, for Sara and Oliver:
Yeah, I’m going to have to work on finding a less girly watermark for guys’ pictures… ;)
I’m only shooting full sessions at Eastman once every week on Saturdays and the spots are filling up quickly, so if you’re planning on having recital pictures taken this semester, make sure to e-mail me soon to secure your spot :)
1) Snow. I never thought I would say this, but I’m actually glad it’s snowing up here again…it’s really abnormal for the ground to be clear in the middle of a Rochester January. Here’s an old picture, but I love it so much that it’s totally worth re-posting.
2) Th Fountainhead. I love my dog-eared copy and I’ve been really getting into the book this week. Also, I’m not gonna lie, I totally have a crush on Howard Roark.
3) One For My Baby, a CD I picked up on a whim at Starbucks. I totally love the nostalgic feel to these songs, and certain renditions such as Peggy Lee’s “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” totally put a smile on my face :)

4) These butterflies that hang in my room. I bought them from Park Leigh this summer, and they’re probably my favorite part of my space.
5) Oh Zip Car, how I love thee. Seriously, since I don’t have a car here in Rochester, the Zip Car has been a lifesaver. It’s basically a rental car that you rent by the half-hour (I pay about $7 an hour). Whenever you need it, you just reserve it online and unlock it using the card they send you in the mail. The cars are eco-friendly and you don’t have to pay for gas or parking.
Since I launched this new website design featuring my oh-so-awesome new logo and watermark, I’ve been getting a bunch of inquiries as to who designed it. So, for the record, the designer is Nicole Byrkit of NB Creative. Her work is outstanding–she was able to achieve exactly the look I was going for. Here are a couple of notecard proofs I just got from her, and I love them:
Also, I wanted to give out a shoutout to Kendra Berentsen, who took one of Madeline’s photos and turned it into a work of art for her recital poster:
If you’re looking for someone to turn your recital pictures into a poster design, Kendra is totally the one to contact. That girl is talented!
Lauren Cowart - I'm so inspired by the look of your site and of course by Nicole's clean design work. I can't wait to get my logo samples from her in the next week. :) I have nothing but nice things to say about her as well!

I’m at crunch time in the middle of the week, with what seems like miles of homework and practicing ahead of me before I can catch a breath over the weekend. It’s one of *those* weeks, and they’re pretty much inevitable at Eastman.
I’m pulling a pseudo-all-nighter to finish a paper before tomorrow morning, and I thought I would post one of my favorite videos while I’m taking a study break. This amazing artist was featured on Ukraine’s Got Talent. She’s such an entertainer:
