…and a few randoms | rochester musician photographer

And a few random shots, to finish out an amazing weekend. First, a couple of Kari, who’s been featured on the blog before. Then, two more of my favorites from Melissa’s pictures, because I love them too much not to post. Finally, a few shots I grabbed on Saturday on the first *real* sunny Rochester day. As much as I love photographing people, sometimes it’s fun to grab a few creative shots and see what I can come up with :)

client contest WINNER! | san antonio family photographer

Well, considering they submitted thirteen entries, it’s not surprising that luck chose this family! I was overwhelmed by the response I received from my clients, and it was such a wonderful experience to see what everyone has done with their images.

Here are some of the pictures from the winning family (used with permission). I love how they’ve displayed their images in arrangements rather than individually. The coffee table book is also very creative…underneath each page, they included cute captions about each child’s personality. What an amazing keepsake. Hopefully these pictures will give you a starting point when it comes time to use your own images.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to send me an image! I truly appreciated seeing each and every one.

the aviary flute quartet | rochester musician photographer

Another fun quick shoot from Friday, with the Aviary Flute Quartet at Eastman. These are all my fellow studio members and I love them to death. I think we got more bloopers than real photos because we were laughing the whole time.

The last couple of photos were taken at Arena’s, the flower shop I mentioned in this week’s friday five. Totally going to head back there again, hopefully for an individual portrait session. Lots of really funky furniture and cool light in there.

Aviary– love you guys! Outtakes coming to Facebook soon :)

conrad + aleka | rochester couple photographer

Getting ready to blog quite a few mini-sessions from Friday and Saturday…it was a great weekend for photography, and Conrad & Aleka were the perfect couple to start it off with. In only ten minutes I could tell how great of a connection they have…makes my heart happy :)

A few sun spots never hurt anyone :)

the friday five v. 6 | rochester musician photographer

First of all, two movies this week. I don’t make it to the movie theatre that often, but there’s been a lot of hype for the following two movies, and after seeing them both, the hype is 100% deserved.

1) Disney/Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. I saw the midnight opening last night and completely fell in love with this movie. Usually Tim Burton films creep me out a little, but I really enjoyed how fully he realized each scene and character. It was extremely well-casted, and I thought it was a beautiful synthesization of real life and animation. Plus, I love how the movie put its own spin on the plot and drew connections with the character’s dreams and real-life conflicts.

2) Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Also an excellent movie, which left me throughly terrified for at least a couple hours after it was over. A wonderful psychological thriller, and well-acted with wonderful cinematography. Probably the scariest thriller I’ve ever seen…definitely check this movie out.

3) Arena’s, a flower/gift shop a few blocks away from Eastman. I visited for the first time today, and it became my newest favorite place in Rochester. It smells amazing and they have flower arrangements like you wouldn’t believe. I’ve never seen anything like it. Plus, they were so gracious to let me use the building for a couple pictures of a flute quartet that I shot today. I’ll post those sometime this weekend :)

4) The Berlin Phil’s YouTube channel. It’s filled with dozens of high-quality selections from live concerts, featuring the best of classical music repertoire. Of course Eastman students will appreciate the Berlin Phil, but the musicians play with such beauty that even people who know nothing about classical music can be moved by their playing. Check out the video below of Steve Isserlis playing the Dvorak Cello Concerto…he plays with such passion & energy. It’s incredible.

5) I. Want. This. Dress. That is all :)
