Photographers need photographers too! Back in the fall as I was brainstorming ideas for the new website, I thought it would be great to include a little glimpse into what a family session looks like. Enter Lena Mirisola, an Instagrammer-turned-friend who made the vision come to life! We met up on an October afternoon with a couple of KLP families and she photographed us while we did our thing.
Getting in front of the camera is something I try to do once a year — not because I need more pictures of myself, but because it reminds me what it feels like to be on the other side of the camera! It’s one thing to ask my clients to arrive early to their session, but then when it’s my turn for a session, I quickly remember how it feels to rush to get everything together and get to the location in time. And I don’t even have kids yet! I came away from the experience with a better understanding of how to serve my clients, and I’m able to empathize with how it can feel nerve-wracking to be on the other side of the lens (at least in the first few minutes, anyway!).
One last fun fact: you would never know it from our autumn outfits, but it was ridiculously hot and muggy that day! We ended up with some freaky October weather. In between sessions, I was wearing a tank top — crazy!!
I’ve interspersed Lena’s shots with my own so that you can see her view and mine together! Fun!
